Lake Okahumpka Park: Do the grandkids need to burn off some energy? This 
Sumter County park, located on route 44 just west of here, is a quick-to-get-to place to do the job. The playground has swings, slides, and a neat rope climbing gym. Conveniently located adjacent to the playground, and in sight, is a pavilion, dog park, bean-bag toss, and beach volleyball. There is also paved walking-biking trails, a nine-hole Frisbee golf course, and a boat ramp with canoe rentals (check website above for prearranged canoe rental info).
Venetian Gardens (no website) 5 miles: This Leesburg city park is located on the right side of route 44, going east, just before the Leesburg Regional Medical Center. The park sports a brand new multi-aged playground. The highlight for many youngsters is the zip-line. This summer (2017) they will be adding a new splash park. The park also has walking trails, fishing, boat ramp, marina, and a newly refurbished sand beach.
